I have Guru, which comes with some .KIT programs. I would just take the .wav files for the hits and put them in my mpc however there are no .wav files for the hits used by these programs. I assume the files are self contained in the .KIT file? Anyway, my main question is is there any way to get the samples of the hits out of the .KIT file for use on the mpc, or can they be used directly on the mpc somehow? I know that i can just play them and sample them into the mpc, but i am looking specifically for a way to transfer the original files directly onto the mpc via the usb cable. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Guru as an application, but the .KIT files you refer to, are they NI Battery V1 Kits ?

If so, programs like Awave should be able to read them and then allow you to write them as .PGM & .WAV files. Translator does the same.

Like I said, not being familiar with Guru, I could be wrong. I know Awave reads & writes FXpansion DR-008 files and that Guru can import these to a degree.

Some sample based formats, like many GIGA or Kontakt instruments, are what we call "monolithic", which means all data (samples/programs/etc) are encapsulated in a single, unpenetrable file. These can therefore only be used with the application for which they were designed.

Don't know if that helped, but good luck.

That helped a lot. I believe they are battery format files. I will check out those programs. Thanks man.

Neither of those programs plays nice with vista. Looks like ill have to wait for a newer version. Drag:-P

If you update your GURU to v1.1.280, and then load and save your KIT files, you'll be able to extract the WAVs.. v1.0 used a monolithic binary format for its kits, v1.1 uses XML + individual files.
