Mute off

mann its a long process settin up your ish sometimes.... i got the 2kxl an mostly chop my samples out an out of each other otherwise i might as well be flingin loops in on fruity.. theres only the 2 mute offs for each pad from what i know, sometimes i wanna be a lil more creative without havin to remember what canx's what... can anyone gimmie some tips other than gettin a mpc1000 which has an 'mono all' feature? sometimes i wanna have more than 2 pads mutin off the one thas playin ie for varied melodies as the track progresses... i wanna be free but i feel like its holdin me back man.

Well there's a couple ways to work around that.

1) If you have a mixer that has mute buttons on the channels, route one track (with the first melody on it) to an individual out and route the other track with the second melody to another out. mute in/out the channels when you want one to come in and one to drop out. if you're quick enough then it will work nice. trust me.

2) lay your first melody down on say track 1. then lay your second melody down on track 2. turn off track 1 and turn on track 2 (and vice versa) when you want to drop out one and bring in the other. it works almost the same way as the method above. again, if you're quick with the hands then it may come out cool.

3) if you have another pad bank open, assign the same chops to another set of pads. so say Bank A has the original chops and the original mute assignments. Then setup Bank B so that the pads mute out different ones then Bank A. so when you want to change it up a little, just use the locate buttons, find the place you want to switch up a bit, record that part and go from there. (hope this makes sense)

if there's no straight forward way of doing something, there's usually always a workaround.
