Got my HD kit and 80GB hard, but the problem I'm having is formatting the drive so the MPC can see the full 80Gigs. I can't upgrade to a new version because of the CF reader being broke. Anyone know any ways around this issue

it can see 2gb with the old OS right?

You could probably just format it with the old OS, then store the new OS file on the hard drive, update the OS, and then re-format with the new OS.

Or does Akai's OS not let you upgrade from the hard drive? Maybe you should make the switch to JJ OS - I'm pretty sure that you can upgrade from hard drive instead of CF with JJ

Yea, format the HD, load the free JJ OS, then load the OS you want onto the HD, and then load that new OS from the HD.

yeah i downloaded the new version from akai, and dragged the file over to the HD, but it wouldn't load up. Ill try loading the JJ version and see if that helps

I think you would be able to load JJ from the hard drive, then load the newest AKAI again once you are in JJ from the hard drive

Don't know why you'd want to go back to AKAI's OS though...

yea you have to load the AKAI OS from the free JJ OS because only the JJ OS can load a new OS straight from the HD
