Agreed. Creating programs on the mpc is much faster than using the mpc1000 program creator. If there was a way to make a change to all the pads at once, the program would be a real timesaver. for example, change all the pads to mono, mute group 1 by selecting all the pads and changing the parameter once, rather than sixteen times. Maybe it can & I'm just missing something.

i haven't used it yet - but this will save me lots of time in many instances... i'm using my MPC for live performances, and basically need to have 128 mg worth of samples in my machine in one go - over 200 diff samples.... makes creating programs pretty painful sometimes...

cos i am jamming i use sequences the whole time and not songs, i also find it a real pain that effect settings are assigned to songs and not sequences (unless i'm missing something?)...

I agree, and go further: I wish the settings were saved by themselves and could be recalled within a sequence.
I'm using an external delay (Korg DL8000R) this way on individual outs, fills in the gaps nicely, but I may look for another general MIDI-controller FX box for the other individual outs, for distortion reverbs etc...

Two things surprised me about the way Sample names are assigned to Pads...

1. The sample names are not alphabetized. I guess that would add code that maybe they don't nave room for... but that makes it very hard to find samples when you have many in memory. If they don't want to add sorting routines, I can think of several other shortcuts that would help. Such as... press [Shift] + [Window] while assigning a Sample to a Pad to see a scrolling list of all the samples... kinda like the way [Window] works in the Save/Load screen. Actually ANY shortcuts at all would be helpful.

2. OK, so you just loaded a folder full of new samples and now you want to assign them to 64 different pads... so where does the Akai put these new samples? At the BOTTOM of the long list of samples in memory already! Guaranteed to WEAR OUT your Data Wheel in no time flat. Why not put new samples at the TOP of the list, and then they're only a few clicks of the wheel away. Again, any number of workarounds would be helpful. How about a shortcut to jump the Data wheel to the END of the list? How about [Shift]-[>]

.....yea, most live MPC-users i have come across use pattern switching manually and never use song mode. hopefully future OS releases will have better effects implimentation (howzabout that delay?).

also a better way to name tracks and enter text is needed, either via software or by hooking up a usb keyboard to the mpc. while in the middle of composing music the last thing i want to do is stop and enter text.

Akai is stoopid for not giving away free editing software for the MPC, it would greatly increase the functionality of the hardware and sell more units.
