MPC2000: Problem with gaps in my melodies.

Ok, so I have my sample all chopped up nice and neat. I have them all assigned to the pads and I have them all set to NOTE OFF. When I go to record a melody, at the start everything is good, I hit the respective pads and hold them down until its time to hit the next one. However, when I come to the end of the bar and I'm playing my last note, I make sure that I HOLD the pad down until the OVERDUB light comes on and the sequence loops back over to ensure that I am NOT releasing the pad pre-maturely, which would cause the melody to have a slight gap in it. For some reason, no matter how long I hold that last pad down, it always cuts itself too soon at the very end of the loop, causing a gap. Does anyone else have this problem with the MPC2000? Does anyone have a solution?

Yup, the clock is a little wierd.. One work arround, use DAW software to do the editing and use it as the master.
The esier way to get arround is by using step edit mode and get the sample on the right second (remember, the quantize grid is going to be the size of the steps in ms)

instead of using note off try, mono and use the pad mutes to turn off the previously played note. Or your samples to short.

The mono advice might work nicely from up above. Also if the bpm is set slower than the actual sample it could cause a slight gap. U could try to tune the samples down a little so itd stretch them out or speed up the bpm slightly to cancel out the gap

word. but check the quantinize too. most of the time when working wit chops quantinizing can throw everything off.

use step edit to adjust the durations manually.
