Ive got a pair of TRUTH's, have had some experience with the EVENTS, and got a friend who has the BX5 joints. Honestly, a monitor speaker is a monitor speaker unless your spending at least a grand. Ive noticed that the most important thing when buying monitor speakers is to learn YOUR speakers, not everyone else's. Sure some have different frequency advantages/difficiencies but ultimately it'll come down to you. Id suggest getting a mid-range monitor set and save the rest until you can afford something outrageous. Any one you speak to, owning a first pair of monitors with little experience with others, will claim that they're product is great. The most improtant thing you can do is find a monitor that appeals to you, wether it have a louder bottom or brighter high end and learn that system and how it translates to other speaker systems. Regardless of what set you get your going to have to learn them. Again most speakers under a g a set have some sort of deficiency. It just depends on which one you can bare to learn.
