Midi Question

Ok, I got some skills with the MPC interface, but I'm just now delving into MIDI. I have a MIDI keyboard, and have connected it to my MPC1K:
IN --> OUT
OUT --> IN

Basically what I wanna know is this: Am I able to map one of my MPC samples across my MIDI keyboard? (this would be like 16-padding a sample, but with the ability to play a true C# or E-flat or whatever)

Isn't this possible, and how? Isn't this the reason I should be excited about using MIDI?

Yup, I'm doing that, try a couple of the PGMs from my page.
Follow the Samples link there for some PGMs with sounds from my K5000S,
The "CRO" (chromatic) programs use MIDI notes mapped across the full 5-octave range, no gaps - just play the keyboard.
The "OCT" (octave) programs use samples mapped one octave per page, makes them easier to play from pads if you don't have a keyboard attached.

The FAQ I'm working on has a section on "melodic multisampling" with some background on the way it works. And it works: my EXM128 upgrade just arrived, so I'm going to try Steinway Grand samples tonight...
