I Just purchased a 120 GB seagate 2.5 inch laptop harddrive. The price was $80

Downloaded the akai mpc 2500 user manual and looked up in the Table of Contents how to install a hd, page 122.

Followed the instructions

JJ OS sure formated it quickly, and the names weren't really too f'ed up either.

I transfered over 8.6 GB of drum samples and it took 4 hrs and 45 minuites via USB.

i hear ya. damn 1.0 usb is killing it. i tried transfering twice the amount you did and it kept disonnecting for some reason. it could of been damn vista too.

you'd think for the money 2.0 should be no big deal but no....same thing goes to motif es tho.

I was worried this large transfer would disconnect so I just found something else to do and didn't use the desktop PC for 4 + hrs.

I haven't had any problems with vista and the mpc 2500.

If you are transfering larger sample libraries to your mpc 2500 Harddrive its best to find something else to do because it can take 4 hours + easily.

After I installed the HD only 114 GB showed up not the full 120. So yes it is possible to use up all of the 120 GB.
