I used to always work in ableton live 6 and always used the swing settings..

How do i set the swing function to only affect the kick for instance?
Do i need to seperate each drumsound on a different track or is it possible to assign different swing settings to each pad?

What you people need to do is disable quantize and stop making those horrible robotic boom bap beats you hear on the radio everyday. Even techno and house beats got more soul to them

I'm interested in learning the different ways that quantize can help you make new beats and new techniques.

Anyone notice a big difference in swing with the JJ os?

i never use quantise i did when i bought it but its so much hardder without.

all this talk of swing percentages and all that. i've never messed with it, just turn timing off and play it how you want it to sound. not only does it add a live element, it sounds a lot better in my opinion. i practice playin drums live every day now even if i'm not making a beat just to get my timing more polished.

you can just record one drum at a time from 1 pgm on 1 track and change the swing % before recording each time

if you cant bang a drum beat on-time without quantize on... YOU SHOULDNT BE MAKIN BEATS PLZ QUIT WITH MUSIC ENTIRELY!!!!!!

if u wanna apply swing to a certain pad then all you gotta do is open up the swing window and HIT THE PAD you want to add the swing to. but you HAVE TO HIT THE PAD you want to apply the swing to BEFORE you hit DO IT!!

when you goto the next pad you want to apply swing to and open the swing window, the settings will be still be the same so it may seem like it's applying the same swing to everything but HIT THE PAD you want to add swing to it

I always say what sounds good is good. If someone can play without Quantize and have their track onbeat then go for it. I wouldn't be so quick to say that un-quantized beats are somehow unprofessional. Personally I am going to turn it off tonight and try the pattern I was working on last night to see if it gives me the feel I was looking for.

i us a 60% for house techno tracks, i use 53-57% for hiphop it works for me.

i use to not use swing but oncw i figured out how it worked it throws me off at times but i dig that
