m-audio firewire 410 sounds really distorted! help please!

my m-audio fire wire 410 sounds like shit. ihave it plugged into my numark dxm pro mixer and that mixer is plugged into my turntables and im using headphones to monitor the sound coming out of the deck onto the computer becuase i want to record some viynl onto my computer.
does anyone have a 410 that could help me out? is something connected wrong?

i have it hooked up like this.


the table is hooked up to the phono in channel 2. with a red and white rca going into their respective colors, and the ground is hooked up on the mixer and the tt500.

the master on my mixer is hooked up to my stereo speakers ( one of those mini systems 50 cd changers with two big speakes and 3 other surround sound ones. the stereo is called a sony mhc-m300av.

the booth on my mixer is hooked up to the LINE input #1 on the BACK of my fire wire 410 using an rca, to stereo cord, (the three colors to mini jack or headphone jack)

i hooked up the RED and white on my mixer on the booth at first, but then i took off the white becuase that one was giving a "hum" kinda sound. and i have the headphones hooked up to the #1 headphone jack in the front of my 410.

i try and record a song in ACID pro 5 but it sounds like complete garbage.ive tried adjusting the buffer rate on my m-audio mixer software and ive set this as my defult sound card for my computer still to no avail.

what is the problem with this? any help would be greatly appreciated! ive been messing around this thing for about a week and it still doesnt seem to work! very frustrating.

also, when do record into acid, it only records off of one channel, is this right? do i just have to duplicate the track and pan it all the way to the left on one and all the way to the right on the other? isnt there a way to get it on both sides when i initially record the sample or track?

would i need a splitter of some kind to mix the channels on the back of my 410. (the one that i have the colors going to stereo on)?

also wehn i have this stuff hooked up, ACID is the only thing that will play music in, i cant open itunes and listen to that on my computer unless i use the headphones connected to the 410. why is this?

i CAN however hear the click on my computer when i turn up the volume, coming out of my speakers, but the song itself wont play unless it is in the headphones.

is it just hooked up wrong? do i need different cords? do i need different speakers?

i cant really hook up the stereo to the 410 because there is no outputs on the stereo, only a auxilary in (red,white) jack.

again, any help would be GREATLY appreciated! this is really frustrating! i just want it to sound good when i make scratches or rip viynl to digital formats.

It sounds like you have connected it correctly...

Turntable-to phono input on mixer-master or booth on mixer out-to 1/4 inputs on the 410-line 1 out on the 410-to your monitor set-up, am I correct?

i have the booth hooked up to the 1/4 inch output on my 410-line 1.
and headphones hooked up to the headphones one jack on the front of the 410.

i didnt hook up my stereo to the 410 becuase there was no output on it, cause its one of those mini system things, not a dj stereo


out on the 410-to your monitor set-up, am I correct?

ill go re-arange the cables and see if it works better, but what i have my hooked up to is using a 3 colors to stereo, would i need a diffferent cord for that?
