NEW 4K USER

WHATS GOOD YOULL JUST GOT MY 4K NOT TOO LONG AGO MAYBE 2 WEEKS NOW AND IM LOOKIN FOR ANOTHER OPTION TO SAVE MY WORK BESIDES MY HD...FREIND OF MINE TOLD ME ZIP DISK IS COOL AND SINCE THE 4K HAS THE SCSI I SHOULD LOOK INTO THAT...SO BASICALLY WHAT I WANNA KNOW IS...IS THAT THE BEST OPTION OUT RIGHT NOW AS FAR AS SAVING ON THE 4K? IF NOT WAT IS? AND IF IT IS WAT DO I HAVE TO BUY? THE ZIP DRIVE? ZIP DISK? AND THE SCSI CABLE CORRECT?

Turn off the caps it is RUDE. Like others said you will be forever buying zips when all you needed was a hd and cd burner do your homework check the 4k faqs.

1st, congrats getting the 4K. 2nd, loose the caps.

Using a Zip drive is outdated. With the 4K you have different options. There are 2 Drive bays on the 4k, you could use internal HDD, CD drive, Multi card Compact flash drive, you could use 2 HDD or, if you have to, use floppy and Zip drives.

You also have USB ports which allows you transfer your files to your PC, you could also use USB storage drives.

question to Adrain really but anyone could answer....what are the two drive bays ur talking about on the 4k? i know there is a scsi port is that one of them? cause i was gonna use the scsi to get my zip drive/disk can i use it for something else better instead?

im def gonna expand my 4ks internal hd i just wanted another source for saving so i can have everything in two places just in case....could u tell me more about the cd drive? and would that allow me to burn my beats str8 from the 4k to cd?

i have the mpc 2500 so i know about compact flash but ur saying the 4k has multi card compact flash? where is that at on the 4k?

Sorry for hijacking this thread but: Wouldnt it be possible to install a hd-bay thingie in the cd-rom slot? For using 2 harddrives for backup purposes. Say your main internal hd is starting to get full and you just slide in a hd into the bay and backup the shit up.



Adrian, you know alot about the inner workings of the 4000, you think that would work?

I have thought about a HDD caddie, I know some people use them in the AKAI DPS24 but, I am not sure if there would be enough room in the 4K.

Whoops, thought you meant a second HD, not a Removable HD...

The 4k has a Host USB port. So what he's saying is get your self a USB to Compact Flash adapter if you want to save to Compact Flash....

On the front of the MPC there are 2 slots, one is 4" the other is 6"

NO!!!!! the MPC4K does NOT have a multi card drive. I said that can be one of your options for saving.

ok the 4 and 6" slots ur talking about is the cd drive and the one next to it which i have no clue wat it is....

and i wanted to ask y blue haze said i should get a cd burner and save there along with my hd....is that easier? faster better? and if i do get a cd burner can i then burn my beats stra8 to cd from the mp?

You can backup to the cd-r from the ram, Im not sure if you can backup straight from the hd to the cd-r. Even so, a cd only holds about 700mb of data and a hd in a 4000 can hold up to atleast 120gb. Thats alot of backup cd's. And no you can NOT make an AUDIO cd with the cd-r thats in the 4000 to play in a regular audio cd player, it only burns data, which means only backing up, or importing data from other cd's. DVD burning is not supported either.
