What is your limit?

Just wondering whats your limit for paying for one record? I know theres sum stuff people are willing to pay more for being fans/searching for that record for ages, etc, but what price do you draw the line @ for paying for records you don't know?

For a record I don't know, but I think is obscure and at very least has a cool cover, probably about $15.

Most I've spent on a record was $25 for a mint O.P. of Death Wish, mainly cause I was at the Sound Library and felt compelled to buy something.

I try to spend less than a dollar per record, sometimes I'll go for a few out of the $2 bin, but usually I hit up like the multiple records for a $1 bin. I've bought a few higher priced records here and there though... Some of the best records I've ever gotten were free...

And that goes for sample records only, when it comes to records for listening only purposes I'll pay what I need to to get what I want... I'm a sucker for OG presses and what not...

well thats tuff cause i dont really buy something i dont know in less it is for cheap,it would have to have someone i know on it ,or a remake of a certain song.

it all depends on you what you want to spend,

every digger has there own limit ,you have to know your limit.

i dont realy have one cause i dp alot of research.

Its not really about having limits its about knowing what your looking at and whether to be daring with your gambles.


I went out the other day and stayed in the £1 boxes, caught myself a whole load of stuff

the week before I paid decent money for some rare pieces but still never OTT with the cash


weigh it up... do you really want to pay top finance for something thats already been rinsed in the first place?

most I'd say is $15 if there's some shit I just gotta have, and I have the money. Usually though I like to keep it under $5 preferably $1.

Most I spent was like 20 and it was when i was a noob and didn't know what I was doing. Also i would like to say F sound library. Waay over priced, They have a section called "budget soul" YEAH budget my asss. You'll find A Taste of Honey in there a with a **** up cover for like 6 bucks. F that.

Ha, yeah only when I was just there it was like $8 was for 'budget' records, I honestly thought the place was going to be a lot cooler than it was. Yeah they had some rarer ish but it was really a small store.

Its priced like that because all the breaks are found for u.. u dont have to "dig" as such.. basictly any record u pull out gonna have a break and usable sh!t... how dope its gonna be equals to the price its at.. cheaper ones bein "so so" but usable to the more expensive ones bein dope banga material off the get go with no real work even.

Its totally diff from a usual record store where u'll dig at to find the breaks urself... place like sound library u could take chances on records unknown to urself and still walk away with heavy sh!t... where as in a usual record store the same chancin could leave u with some wack sh!t not even seen fit to melt into a fruit bowl or make into a clock

A taste of honey is a dollar record totally common. Me and 4000 were there we saw that bette midler record that got that famous break on it (forgot the name of it) IT WAS 8 DOLLARS. And guess what we went to three other places and they had that exact same record good condition for 1 DOLLAR! Im sorry but sound library can lick my anus.

I'm a cheap baztard. But if I see a record I've been looking for I'll pay the price.
The most I've ever spent on a record was $45 for Prince's Black Album when it first came out in '88. Still got that sh!t in plastic!

I get what ur saying.. but its a dollar in dollar bins, where u HAVE to dig and know what ur looking for..

Also.. what version of "a taste of honey" are u talking about?? coz i have at least 12 or so diff versions on vinyl by all diff peeps.. and then more on mp3 and cd format.. some are very dope.. some are so so.. some are wack, which one are u talking about? or u think theres just 1?

Bottom line is.. sound library is formatted in a way that they breaks are found for u.. u dont have to "dig", u can just buy records and know theres gonna be something on them.. its very similar to recordkingz.com although sound library aint near as expensive on a whole as recordkingz..

But with what ur saying about "a taste of honey"... u cant just use example of a track name like that when there is endless amounts of versions of it by endless amounts of artists.. each one diff from the next.

Thats like refering to "windmills of ur mind", like theres only the dorophy ashby version or some sh!t... when i got around 25 versions of "windmills" at least, and some versions kill the dorophy ashby version.. totally smash it apart.

My time is worth some money (believe it or not), and the convenience factor cannot be ignored... I'll pay 20% over what the record's worth if I don't have to drive across town fifteen times looking for it... You got it? In good shape? kaboom I'll buy it right now and I don't have to look for it ever again.

Most I ever paid was 60 bucks, most I ever made was 75.

Usually, I'm on the losing end of the deal.

I always use the Beer Index: how many beers would this money buy at a bar next Saturday night? Because I will buy coffee, beer, food, all this stuff that's gone the next day without really doing those calculations, 15 bucks for a nice record is okay if I sit down and break out the calculator...beer and food I'll spend 50 bucks and nobody thinks that's insane...my girlfriend demands that I spend that money...which I seriously think is way more of a waste of money than records...

dollars per hour enjoyment, I'll put listening to a record up there with pretty much any other form of purchased entertainment...

but um yeah:

I haven't reached my limit yet. I'm sure I'll go triple digits someday... and it'll be worth it to me...

I do spend more on records than I do on food, but food just isn't as important youknowhatimean????
