Hi there,

Sorry i know, it`s a double post, but i dont know which one is the right one for this question.
Maybe there`s way to do this with the original Akai OS 1.23

is there a way to prelisten to samples from HDD while playback, or does anyone know, if 1 of the JJ OS can make it work ?

Thanks for any advice

i don't think you can do that with any mpc.

I hope theres a way though..
I mean, i think its essential for good hh beats to chose drumsounds or other samples that really matches the original sound of the main sample, so that it sounds like they belong to each other, or even better, if you chop it up right, that no one could say, if this was played by a band, or if its sampled.
That for i always start with a sample and then look for sounds that not just match themewise (can u say that ? ; sorry I`m German) but also soundwise.

That for i need to hear them together.

i agree with you, not necessarily on the being able to preview samples from HDD while the sequence is playing, but one of my requests has always been this:

in the load screen, pressing a pad should play the sound which is on the pad rather than previewing the sound that is selected to load.

if you want to preview a sound, you can press the soft key which does it. there's absolutely no reason for every pad to preview the sound... in fact, there's no reason for any pad to preview the sound since there's a soft key for it!

that's the way it was on the 2000xl. having the pads play the sounds in the program allows you to compare what you;re loading to what is already loaded to see if they match.

exactly, that would do..

I just transfered the money via paypal for the new jj os, if it solves the problem, i let you know.

no os can do it !

i really know what you mean (das war auch mein grösstes problem am anfang weil ich gewöht war die samples direkt bei laufendem beat vorzuhören) there are efx units which sample some seconds and loop it .
like this: http://mall.prodj.com/index.php?module= ... ail&id=757
then you can hear the loop and prelisten samples in "context"
