I had the same thing happen a while back. Did you try a different disk? That's what it turned out to be in my case.

Zip is a flaky medium.

i too, had a similar experience.

as 27b so aptly stated, it's best to try a different disk after you've reboot the machine. another thing to try.. run a disk repair utility from nortin (or other) and see if that can fix the disk.

what some of those program will do is quarantine the bad clusters or damaged parts of the disk. it might give you the time to backup the non-damaged data.. infact the same disk i had that was giving me the "click of death" lasted me an extra year or two.

when it was time to let it go (cause the click came back) i wasn't taking any more chances of damaging my drive. however, when i was using it i could only use 95% of the disks capacity any over that and i would get an error. hehe after throwing it away i looked at the actual disk inside and there was a huge chunk missing from the edge of the magnetic disk inside.

also there is some info on iomega.com about the click of death. i suggest you refer to that.

here is a similar topic posted awhile ago.

hope that helps,

p.s i understand that you haven't been on here for awhile but you must remember that caps are not proper net etiquette. people might think you are screaming.. not very easy on the eyes either...
