I wanted to update os.1.23

I made it with the akai cf card.

But, it froze at 98 % ram...

So I turned off and on.

In left corner of global window stood "version 1.23" and all data was still on my harddisc.

I formatted harddisc, installed again new os, mpc froze again at 98%.

Loaded up projects and it opened correctly.

Why didn´t it finish the update right???? do you have an idea?
what would you do? ( I use MUTEC-ram)

I wanted to install 1.23, because of all these f+ck*n´ saving-bugs. destroying my work!
And getting an empty ROOT tree when going through beats which have been saved defected....

there is another way to install the OS. try searchin the forums.

you like hold a button and turn on the MPC. the OS.bin file needs to be in the root directory of the CF card

Thanks for your help.
I tried holding the ERASE button, but it didn´t help. This just opened the akai preset project and then the Erase window...

Althougt it didn´t install the os correctly, it seams to work...strange....

maybe you have another idea?

i just had the same experience you did (phil79) with loading the v 1.23 os off the CF card from the LOAD page.

so while it was still hanging on the "98% ram" screen, i turned off my mpc (yikes!). then, while holding down the window button i turned the mpc on and it booted to a screen that read, "MPC2500 OS UPDATE". i then hit "do it" and it loaded the os correctly.

i found this method here:
http://akaipro.com/documents/MPC2500/MP ... Update.txt
maybe this helps.

i dont really like the new os. Ive had more problems with my pads triggering other pads, etc... I might try switching to the original because I never had any problems before.

How often do you think they come out with new os's? When might the next be expected? Anyone? Thanks

Jessiah, I guess this will take some month from now on, because the newest (1.23) has come in June.

I didn´t have any problems until yesterday.

I copied rather much step edit info to other different sequences too fast.

Before that I had to delete the old step edit info on these sequences.

Then suddenly my MPC restarted and all data got lost.

Do you guys think 1 GB Ram isn´t enough for bigger projects?
