24bit audio support?

Is this possible? I mean, adding this would be something OS related or is it a hardware issue?

I have 1000's of sample in 24bit format, and I hate to "downgrade" them

Hardware related, this is not possible. Many components are 16 bit.

You could consider to buy an Akai Z4 or Z8 Sampler from eBay etc.
and hook it up by midi to your 1k.
These can handle 24 bit natively, are cheap and you gain real multi-
sampling and lots of polyphony.
