i've had the MPC 500 for about 2 months now and i've had a lot of trouble, mostly because i've had NO BACKGROUND IN MUSIC...AT ALL! i've learnt some to most of the terms you need to know and still have trouble with it. the reason i bought it was because it was portable and i could carry it around with me.plus, i have tons of rhymes/songs that i've gotten down on paper, but i needed something powerful(like mpc's) to get my music down, too. i've heard 2 people say the 1K was better and easier to learn AND use, but it's pads wear easily. for an un-educated music person like myself, do you think that i should switch to the 1K? money isn't an issue...i just want to learn these MPC's asap and become very knowledgable of them AND music in general. Im only 16, and NOBODY around my area, much less my age even knows what an MPC is, so im trying to learn and get one step ahead of everybody (in a good way lol). so maybe when im 20 or 21, i will already have 4-5 years of experience under my belt.

any help or suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

If money isn't an issue buy some tutorial dvds.

The sequencer on the 1k is easier to use IMO, but nothing beats trying it out.
