Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

hey,
I finally decided to mount an Hitachi 80 GB Hard Drive and a Lite-On CD R Burner in my MPC 4000.
And I am wondering one thing about the ATA connection of the hard drive and the CD burner.
Are both units supposed to be connected to a single ATA port on the MPC with a single ATA flat ribbon cable ?
Or is their a second ATA port on the MPC that I Did not see and that is not depicted in the manual ?

thanx for your answers

one another thing, if you mounted your HD and burner yourself in your 4000, were the two power cables sold with your MPC 4000 LE ?

thanx

there is only on connection. It's like a computer...you have a master and slave on a single cable. New hard drives and CD-Roms should come with a jumper in the "Cable Select" mode. If it's set this way, just hook the hard drive to the end of the cable and the CD-ROM to the middle.

The LE is suppossed to come with the power cables for both the CD-ROM and the Hard drive. The HD cable has a ferrite core on it. My LE did not come with the CD-ROM power cord an I had to request it from Akai. Some one else had that happen to them to.

thanx for your reply MAD T, you answered my every questions

I guess I'll have to ask Akai or my reseller for two power cables then...
