Sampling from TV/Cable

I'm interested in sampling from my tv. I have Time Warner cable w/ a cable speed internet connection. I'm thinking I just need a particular cord to connect to my cable box, and then connect to soundforge on my pc and record?? Would this work, and what kind of cord would I need?? Are there any other ways of doing it?

just the standard quarter inch cables will do. I'm sure your cable box has the outs on the back of it, I know mine does.. I have it hooked up to my stereo so I can watch tv and BUMP the schit out of whatever I'm watching...

Is time warner all digital (I guess it is but i'm not sure) ?

'cos really often, on digital broadcast, the sound quality is too digitally compressed and the sounds are really crappy and thin

just be careful, having a good sampling source is important

but on the other hand, you might like some poor quality samples from times to times...

Check to see if it has a SPDIF out on the back, If you can input "dig it all" try that.

I'm trying to optimize all possible sources for sounds-samples.

You'll most likely have some RCA outputs.
