Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I have a question. I haven't recieved my 4000 yet. I was on the akaipro website and they have a tutorial on there on one of the links for doing doing basic operations and such with the 4000. There was a brief tutorial on using ak.sys.

I was going through the tutorial and I think it was the program screen, but there was a synthesizer or at least a keyboard on that screen. As the tutorial didn't go in depth I was just wondering if you could use the mouse to play keys on there.....or exactly what is that there for?

I apologize if it's an unrealistic assumption that it can do that (play keys with a mouse), but I'm just curious.

No. The keys are just a virtual map for making programs. The MPC is an empty but hungry brain that needs feeding. <-- Corny metaphor
