Well, I think in a situation like this you have to offset one of the tracks to match the other. Again, the grid/timing resolution determines what amount you can move a track, so that you can pinpoint and be as accurate as possible when lining them up. At least this is my experience with Steinberg software. Not sure about Logic though, but I hope you get a fix on your deal there my friend. Peace

The simple answer is the timing of MPCs is flawed. The MPC4000 cannot play 2 samples or more in perfect sync. I tested this once with a click sample. Played 16 instances of the click simultaneously. No two were in sync. Each sample played back sequentially one after the other. The time between the first sample and the last was almost 300 samples. Definitely not sample accurate! And that's the flagship MPC. By the look of the waveform image you posted, I'd assume the MPC2500 must have the same problem.

The MPC500's timing though is better than the MPC4000. It can play 3 samples in perfect sync, but any more will play back sequentially in blocks of 3. Still not perfect, but 3 times better than the MPC4000. No wonder the MPC500 sounds tighter.

At the end of the day if it bothers you that much, sell the MPC2500 and maybe replace it with either an MPD24 or an MPK49 and a software sampler such as Battery running in Logic. Or even an old MPC3000, which were always tight.
