How does the screen perform outside in the sun? I like the idea of having the 500 to make beats on in the park, but is the screen nice and clear to read outdoors?

homie... no one in their right mind would be out under the sun purposely unless they were tanning. How about if you sit somewhere in the shade with your mpc 500. I wouldn't suggest under a tree because if you make shitty beats a bird might just shit on you and your machine.

The screen isn't like a computer screen, it is like a watch/calculator. So you can see it just fine outside, that's the whole point of the MPC500 for me, portability. Sitting out on the grass making music sure beats being hunched over a computer in a dark basement.

Just as I'd hoped. Thanks. Yeah, it's all about portability :)

Yeah, I just meant outdoors. Even a laptop won't cut it outside because the screen is always too dark. Enter MPC 500 - problem solved.

Yeah, no problems outside. Just be sure to turn the backlight off if you're in a sunny area.
