Is there a way to layer on the s950 like i can with my asr-10 -- like copy wave samples on top and tweaking each layer.?

The quick answer is yes, and the less quick answer is check the badly written manual. Off the top of my head I think you can set velocity to detect that, but I don't ever use it so don't sweat me if it's wrong!

You need to make 2 different keygroups. Each of these keygroups will have the same hi and low key range. Put a different sample in each key group. Set each keygroup to a different out.

Velocity layering on the 950 is totally different. Thats used when you want different velocity levels to trigger two diff samples.
