well, addressing this issue can be considered allowing for unification of operation...

OPERATION:

1 - on END param, UP zooms UP, DOWN zooms DOWN
2 - on START param, UP takes you to SAMPLE, DOWN zooms DOWN.

by its precise nature, trimming is a keystroke/data wheel/interface heavy function as it is. throwing another keystroke in there in between the user and vertical zoom when the user is working fast provides the following problems:

accident of changing viewed SAMPLE in TRIM
slowed workflow due to extra tap of button
additional wear on button

and since like i said, when trimming, esp with trimming fast, you're really using these buttons a lot to get yourself to your exact position.

perhaps [shift] (or [note repeat] or [stop]) + turn the data wheel to change the sample? may be quicker, plus the cursor wouldn't have to move from the start/loop/end row.

what a shame, that would have worked real nice

Wow, so this addition of [shift] + Data wheel or Cursor can't be done?

i thought it would too, but i guess what teamjj thinks is having [shift] + turning the data wheel changing the sample on the trim screen only is a bit anomalous, which is why they said 'unification of operation'. as i understand it, they'd rather not have different keystrokes for the same functions in different screens. as the vertical zoom is a unique feature to the trim screen, the trade off had to be made with that, which i can understand. i'd still like there to be a change there though, something like [shift] + [up] to move the cursor to the sample name would be nice.

it can be done, it would just mean confusing usage.

well, it can be done, cos jj's a jenius.

it probably won't be done because it means having two different methods of doing something on two different pages. imagine someone trying to learn the jjos, and you tell them: 'yeah, to change sample on the program page, move the cursor to it, then move the data wheel. on the trim page, however, hold shift and move the data wheel.' cats would be confused.

True. I just figured since [SHIFT]+RIGHT or LEFT CURSOR and BAR LEFT or RIGHT both do the same function (ZOOM IN and OUT) and since that in one screen you're choosing samples and in the next you are goin' between slices that people might not confuse it and we can dedicate [SHIFT] + CURSOR to something else besides the same thing that BAR LEFT or RIGHT does. Cause I just use BAR since it only involves pushing one button to ZOOM.
But there are more important issues. No one will doe if this is not added, it would just be a nice lil addition.
