MPC 2000/xl vs MV8k

I've searched thru ten pages and still no results I've done my research and so far this is what i like.

MPC 2000K
Classic/Warm Sound
Cheap
Good Pads
Wav Support

MV8000
Cheap
New
More Features and priced reasonably around 1000k used

Now I dont want the mpc500(screen),mpc 1000(pad probs), mpc 3000(slow workflow same as mpc60),mpc 4000(basically a mv8000 but too expensive). So the mpc2000/xl and the mv 8k are my options. What should I go with. If I get the mpc 2000 im gonna get a scsi cdrom which will also set me back around 150 (tax,shipping,cable). So all in all the total cost for the mpc would be around 800-1000 and the mv 8k would be around 1100. So what do you guys recommend?

get the mv8k and add a mpd to it.

why the **** would i add an mpd? And bout midi controllers im gonna get the axiom 49 and the padkontrol to use with reason, the mpc/mv will be strictly used as a standalone production studio.

the 2000xl is a ill machine. has that classic feel and workflow with most the goodies of the new school. Combine that with a decent track recorder and your set.

Never owned a mv but i tried one out before. I'm sure it has everything you could possibly need, but it seems like more trouble than its worth.

A lot of cats like the feel of the Akai pads. Adding the Akai controller takes care if that if the Roland is your choice. Real estate in my spot is limited, but if you have the room, why not. there's also no shortage of users that have used the Korg unit with their MPC, so it's far from unheard of.

Box vs. Box.. i think the MV takes it. I had the 2000 years ago and i don't even see it as a fair match up.

Maybe it was just the programs/patches I saw loaded up, perhaps they were really large.

I think the 2000XL is more than enough, its limitations can actually aid creativity.

However, if you look you can get a cheap MPC2500. I have seen a few go for $1000, even $1200-1300 fully loaded.

The load time vary depending on the size the project or patches. Long audio phrases and large / multiple kits are the main culprits. Light projects load pretty quick.

A maxed out project, with 512 mb of ram installed, will take 2-3 minutes to load...but I usually keep 6-10 different songs in one project. So, once that project is open, you can switch between all of the songs, patterns, audio phrases, samples, and instruments, in that project with no waiting time.

I don't want the mpc2500 because cash is an issue. Actually i made this thread to get an idea of what exactly i needed. Right now my setup will be a midi controller/s950/audio interface with preamps/shure sm57 thats it. If i go fully hardware I will most def get the best mpc the 2500 and sample with my sm57 but even with that i really so no point because how many people do WHOLE tracks on an mpc. So its kinda like wasting money just to have one for the sake of having one. Get it? Thats why right now i think the s950/mpd24 or axiom 25/lexicon omega interface/sm57 is the best option for me right now. I got reason/cubase/ and over 500 cds genres: jazz/world(italian/french/latin/middle eastern)/progressive/psych/classical/soundtrack/breaks yeah no soul or funk its kinda played out. You guys think i need soul/funk? Yes i dig cds...

oh well if ur gonna be sequencing into a computer just go with the 2kxl or the 1000 you really dont need all those exrtra features on the mv if ur gonna be using a DAW and u already have a s950 so yep just get a 2kxl or 1k and youll be good to go
