Virus in MPC 500

Hi, people! One of my friends (owns MPC 500) had a problem with pads which suddenly refused to work. He took his MPC to the music store, where he'd bought it, and they sent it to their repair shop. Finally, pad problem was fixed, but music store staff said that the reason for the pads to malfunction was a VIRUS (probably coming from CompactFlash card). Anyone experienced the same problem? Is that possible?

why not? mpc has OS, has file system, obviously, why couldn't it be affected by a virus of some kind?

Yeah its possible to have a virus in any thing even non computerised mechanical things. AKA Glitches or querks.

If someone wanted to they could put a virus on your iPod, Mobile, Synth, MPC but seriously its pointless. Windows based PC's get viruses due to the huge market share, 90% of computers are PC. Why do you think MAC don't have viruses? because they would make little impact if your soul purpose was to cause kaoss.

The question you got to ask is who's making viruses? Who make millions every year because of them? Anti-Virus companies.

Studio's and internet should never be linked but we do it. Be safe guy's cause nasty people want to fu*k with out music/

Well, it wasn't me who have been told that, so - no chance to slap what I am trying to say is that Akai could have used the same (or similar) instruction set in OS for MPCs as a basic instruction set used in Win operating systems, for instance. hence probable virus vulnerability. it couldn't have been a specifically written virus, it could have been the existing one, which got into my friend's MPC by chance and deactivated pads in the same way as some Win virus could have deactivated a PCs keyboard.

And yes, Macs do have viruses. Though much less in number, but Mac viruses do exist. Apple issues security patches every month, dude, I can tell you, cause I have a Mac laptop and update its system on a regular basis.

Maybe JJ wrote a virus, would be kinda lame to go after Akai's users.

And if my problems would have been caused by a virus, it should have been fixed after flashing the O.S. I guess.
