stereo to dual mono cables

anyone know of the hosa ypp117 (1/4 stereo to dual 1/4 mono) cables would work connecting a cd walkman to the mpc? one mono connector is tip, and the other mono is ring.. and from what i know, those are used for send/receives. anyone know if this can be used for dual input?

if your looking for something to hook to your walk man and the mpc go to radio shack i dont know what its called but i got one right in my hand right now....at one end its gona look like a good old 1/8 headphone jack and at the other end its gona look like male l/r phono jack....they only cost 5 dollars tops...
