MPC3000 vs. MPC2500

Which is better the MPC3000 or the MPC2500 you make the pick?

I love em both. Some will say the MPC2500 brings more to the table, but they are both slammin machines. I know, I own them.

The 2500 is dope but I hihnk it's cheap and not same build quality of course. The data knobs have been going out on a lot of them too. The 3000 is a tank and is alittle more old school cause of the way you have to do things but the sampler is still the best out of the MPC's.
I would buy a 3000 over a 2500 anyday.

I own a 3000, have made some beats on a 2500, and I would also choose a 3000 over a 2500 anyday (but I would choose the 3000 over any other MPC anyday).

I really did not like the jog wheel on the 2500, or the way the envelopes did not work the way i wanted them to.

And 13 years after they made the 3000, they should have came up with a much better interface/layout and screen than they have. It's not much improvements over the last decade...

Whats the problem with the envelopes on the 2500 bro?

i would rather get a 3000 (you realize this is a 3000 forum you're asking on)
basically because you dont have to spend hours trying to get decent sound eqing til your brain melts. 2500 got features and all but... do you really want a machine that does everything for you?

yeah the decay on the 2500 sucks balls. it just isnt sharp enuff for some drum hits

When I tried to beef up some kicks and snares, both single ones and in layers, it never came out the way I wanted it, like the way it comes out on the 3000. I never got the drums to sound the way I can on the 3000, not as punchy, not a bangin drum, just a drumsound.

And the thing that bugged me the most was when I had found some decent (not great) envelope settings and wanted a short sub-kick triggered by the regular kick, the envelopes changed, like if one layer setting was a "master" setting. On the 3000 the only "master setting" on envelopes is that if the envelope is adjusted with the "start", all other samples triggered by that pad gets set to "start" even if you have adjusted the envelopes eith the "end". But on the 2500 it seemed like everything changed when layering.

I haven't received my 3k yet but I'm hoping the pads feel more like the 4k than the 2500, 1k, or 2kxl. Its a big difference to me. The black pads on the white 4k felt theee best!!! The mv8800 pads felt like the 4k. The sound I'm sure has to be better than the 2500.

mv8000 is overkill, minus well make beats on a pc.



3000 is the move nice and simple using your ears, plus my s950

Yea that's why I didn't worry about gettin rid of the 88. It wasn't really worth the cash to me but it sounded real good.

The 3000 is rock solid. I own the 3000 & 4000. Get a 4000 over the 2500. The 3000 kills the 2500, hands down! It's a Roger Linn!!!

I got my le a week ago and its been real nice. In decent shape for its age. No regrets so far. I honestly like it over the 1, 2xl, and 4. The sampling is just what I was looking for. Drums knock, sequencer rock, easy to understand. Working with zip drives aint as bad as I thought it would be. I'll get the upgrade after I get some extra dough but I'm good for now! Anyone upgade?

I wouldn't say the 3000 is better then a XL or 2500. It really depends on your production style. When I use my 3000 and chop it takes awhile to do it so I wouldn't say the 3000 is made for chopping even tho you can it's more for loops or midi and layering up your tracks. The XL you can have any kind of style you can chop or loop or whatever. It really comes down to sacrifice. The 3000 sound & sequencer or the XL & 2500 & 1000 the ease of use of chopping and loading up sounds & saving. But don't get me wrong still love the 3000!!
