Hi.

I use a MPC 2000XL for in the studio. Im wanting to take some of my tracks onto the stage but i need to buy a new, more portable mpc which i can just use for the stage.

Im not sure about the adv/dis advantages of the 1000 compared to the 500. Ive read the reviews but they are by people who dont really use MPC's. This is why im on here asking this.

Has anyone any advice. It would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Ben

The 1000 would be better for most live performances for a few reasons.

The outputs are much better. The voltage is higher and you get less line noise.

With the JJos you get some enhanced track muting features and some other things for live performance that I really don't know a whole lot about.

The pads are much more responsive.

I still like the 500 for a lot of reasons. But if battery power isn't a consideration I would go with a 1000

Thanks again, Ben

The JJ OS is an aftermarket OS not supported by Akai. It gives the MPC1000 some great features. You can read more about it in the JJos Forum
