sampling

Hey fellas I know this might be a simple question and its probably posted but I can't find it I sampled and chopped up some parts of marvin gaye in adobe audition and transferred it to my mpc 1000 now what i wanna know is how do i get the tempo of the sample to how fast or slow I want my beat to be? Thanx in advance to anyone who helps

assign the loop to a pad. record it on a sequence, then hit tap tempo untill it loops perfectly.

Other way round, 3 possibilities:

- Pitch up/down
- Timestretch
- More chopping, play the chops in the tempo the sample was. If you decrease the tempo then, fill up the emerging gaps with smaller chops of the same sample, adjust attack/decay till it runs smoothly.

Ok I found the pitch up and down funtion and it slows it down or speeds it up but how do i get it to go exactly with the click on my tempo that I set

Heres the way i deal with samples. Chop it (as small as you think you can work with it), create a program with the chops. With the sequence not running play the chops till you found a good combination/melody whatever or at least you know where which chop is on the pads. Now go to an empty track, turn pgm: off, start the ssequence and imagine how the chops should play over that. Now play the sequence (without hearing the sample) over the beat, when done switch to your program. Now all you have to do is to tune (sometimes timestretch, create more smaller chops etc.) the sample till it fits - requires practice too, but works the best for me.

do you sample from a turntable thru your mpc or do you chop it up in software like adobe audition first then transfer to your mpc

try both and figure out what works best for you.

very simple to do...just pitch bend it...then in the mpc ....chop it up...record some drums...then play the chops over em..thats the easiest way to do it...
