2000xl vs 2500

I sold my 2000xl as it has gotten beat up over the years and now Im awaiting my new shiny 2500.

Question is what is the difference in the os? Any big feature changes in comparison to the XL? I've been reading on here about this "chop shop" feature, I presume it works something like the Zone function on the XL. Anything I should be aware of?

I searched but couldnt find much on comparing the two machines.

Anyone out here done the same upgrade and have any tips? I'm gonna get the 2500 tutorial which I imagine will tell me what I need to know...

Doesnt seem like much of a learning curve. I'm interested to see how the chop shop works, as well as the matrix editor thing. Man I shouldve coughed up the other $40 for next day, this is killing me.

"you cannot use the chop shop function on a stereo sample. If you use a stereo sample only the left channel is used"

My question is, how does one get around this? Is there any way to zone out a loop on the pads in stereo?

my dear friend this might seem confusing or this might be hard to grasp at
first but there is a 30 dollar os called jj os that my friend is the way out
it keeps all the original akai main bread and butter functions with a lot
of goodies that make the work flow more sufficient. don't know how you
feel about putting the os on a new akai but i sold mine just got one
yesterday and guess what brand new out the box ordered jj os you can
download it try it it's free if you like it buy the full os,

P.S. this os is the keep samples stereo when you chop

i think extracting retains the stereo characteristics.

She came today, I got only about a half hour to play with her before work though...

My first question...

Why does the jog wheel move so slow? 2kxl users know what I mean. In the trim screen when trying to find your start and end points using the wheel on the numbers is way slower than it used to be. Is there a way around this?

Also, should I go right to the JJ Os or stick with it as is for the moment?

Also what do you mean by extracting?

and the jog wheel will move more faster, that was one of my biggest frustrations when i first got my 2500

with questions like these, you really need to crack open that manual. you can adjust the digits of the jog wheel's scroll. XL users are used to the acceleration that the akai os doesn't have. as for extrcting.... rtm.

when you are on the number, hold shift and hit the left cursor, it's in the manual too.
