you must only buy records from a dollar bin then, cause if you where to pay real money for a record you would get your moneys worth. i'm not sayin all records but,SORRY sometimes thrift's and dollar bins dont CUT IT FOR ME, you can't always find what your lookin for ,for a buck SORRY.

i do score records for what they're supposed to be sold for...

not what ebay or gemm dictates they're sold for

example

found a mint copy of black byrd from donald byrd for what 6 bucks??

you go on gemm and the records posted for 22 bucks?? AND thats what the record stores who dont know shit go by???

found a mint copy of kulu se mama by coltrane for 5 bucks and you go on ebay and dudes are selling it for 15+?? and again thats what record stores who dont know shite go by??

i dont know what your shops are like but there's one shop out here who doesnt go by ebay or gemm or anyother web site and thats where i've found the majority of my "good" records.... granted he knows that certain records are a bit harder to find or in high demand, that he does sell the ctis for a significantly less than he would the early impulse or blue note stuff.... thats all im trying to say...

but when you walk into a store and they've got freddie hubbards "polar ac" selling for 15 bucks you gotta think the record store doesnt know what the **** hes doing, and make the assumption (and a correct one) that the record store is going by ebay or gemm...

when you walk into a record store and he doesnt have prices labeled on the stickers becuas if you want that record, you bring it up and he goes on his internet or calls someone to check the prices for you, seriously **** that.....

but i was assured things arent like that in the bay.... well at least not at the stores that know whats up....

well, in this world, a seller sets the price... that's why ebay used to be so good, because the seller is just like, "for sale." Auctions show what something's worth...but eBay is too full of fakes and liars, so the auction isn't perfect...

but yeah, if something's too much, offer what you think it's worth and see if dude takes it... if not, then... I guess go somewhere else...

if a store's prices are too high across the board, they'll either lower their prices or die...

eBay does keep more than a few shops in existence though...there's one here in seattle that doesn't even need to sell a single record from his storefront, because his reach is so far with eBay...where somebody in Omaha doesn't have access to as many records, they'll pay more... unfortunately, they're in the marketplace with you too now.
