Updating MPC 2000XL OS

I am a total rookie when it comes to this MPC 2000XL and I can not find information on what one would think would be damn easy and it is driving me nuts.

I just installed an internal MCD drive and turned on the MPC and it turns on fine and now I want to update the OS but first of all I can't even find out which OS it has currently and secondly I insert the flash card in which has the .BIN mpc2000xl 1.20 os file and now what? How do I tell the MPC to wake up and smell the new operating system?

Laymans terms would be appreciated.

Quick question: What does updating the OS do for the MPC 2000xl? I have had my MP for about 5 years now and I havent had any problems with my OS. Would you still recommend updating it?

Well, when I got a card reader I was running 1.14. I couldn't find a 512MB card so I bought a 1GB card. OS 1.14 can only handle partitions of 512MB. So I upgraded to OS1.20 which can handle the 1GB...

i'm not sure of all the specifics, but why wouldn't you upgrade? they make upgrades for a reason, to try to improve on the old joints

just run it for a while and make ur decision on which on you like more
