Filtering out bass

I know how to filter all highs/mids, but not how to get rid of all bass.

Is it possible to filter out bass on the 2000XL?
Anyone have any ideas?

use the high pass filter in program mode. That's really the only way to remove the bass.

OR if you have a lot of time use a parametric EQ. Search teh exact bass frequency and set the dB to -12.

There's no highpass filter in the xl

wow, tag; your xl got a high pass filter?! now that's unique!
the only way to remove low frequencies is to get the effects board which has a 4 band eq/filter

forgot about the eq on the fx board

SHom, your best bet is to use EQ, but you can also go into parameters for the sample and turn your frequency almost all the way down and then turn the reson up a little bit. Experiment with those settings and with some samples you can get some pretty good bass sounds.

I got protools, so maybe i can mees with that as well.

as a very reliable mixer/engineer once told me. Use Pro Tools or any recording software as a final process and dont rely to heavily on it to make your stuff sound good. Basically, you should already have your sound pretty good by the time it goes into Pro Tools and then you can use it to fine tune the stuff. Most of the time, a sh!tty sound going into pro tools will still be a sh!tty sound coming out of pro tools. Its great to add a little extra punch, some reverb, delay, etc. but you should really get your sounds as good as you can first.

Some people might tell you to record everything as dry as possible and EQ it from there; but, I guess its just a matter of what works for you. Try them both and let you ears decide!

You guys got me thinking about high pass filters and Fx boards.

I know that the prices vary, but do you guys know of any goods ones?
I like to know what other producers are using so I can get an idea of what styles can come out of it. I would obviously check it out myself, but its good to know what producers who have a distinct sounds use, so I get an idea.

Anyone know what Large Professor uses? J Dilla? Premier? Alchemist?
