HELP ME SOLDER THIS

yo.

i have to replace a cursor switch on my MPC 2000 and im understanding that i have to solder it in. has anyone done this repair? and can they break down how i START the process?

i.e. how do i DE solder to get the broken switch out???

i know it cant be that difficult of a process

If you have never soldered before perhaps it is best to leave it to someone who has.

However, if you want to do it yourself, better get a desoldering pump and a good soldering iron, preferrably one with variable temperature.

Pardon me if I sound lazy, but a quick google search will give you good results.

i would have to second this. i recently bought a second hand Ensoniq ESQ-1 and the battery needed to be replaced. I did it myself and it was my first time soldering. Several times I thought I might have dropped boiling solder on a vital piece of the internals. Luckily after pulling out my hair and being frustrated for about an hour, I got the battery in (for the second time... the first time the battery came loose within a day).

If I hadn't picked up the synth for 50 bux I would have taken it to someone with experience. And for the close quarters inside of an expensive mpc, I'd definitely recommend you let someone do it that knows how... and watch if you can. Get your practice on less expensive gear.

ive been practicing desoldering on some old speakers

but i need to go out and buy a solder pump

it actually went fine. got the parts from vstservice

anybody else that solders repairs for their mpc, make sure u dont solder the switches in as soon as u pop them in the circuit board. make sure the polarity is correct. if not, they won't work at all.


now that i know about the soldering process, ill be able to get a lot more mileage out of my oldass mpc
