I did a section in the FAQ about this, some guidelines to use - have a read of this: http://stereoroid.com/sounds/mpc1000/faq.php#d06

There are two sides to this:
1) Is the MPC putting the MIDI out on the correct channel? This is a setting on the main page for the Track you have the MIDI in. Don't forget to set Program to "Off" if you are sending MIDI to the module only. or else it will play a MPC Program also.
2) Is your sound module interpreting the MIDI correctly? Some modules must be switch to "multitimbral" mode before they will correctly play MIDI on more than one channel. Don't forget to add Program Changes to the Track to set the patch on the sound module.

You can sort this all out if you always look at the difference between
- what MIDI you need for a task
- what MIDI you are actually sending
Easy, eh?

I'm now offline till Monday, but maybe someone else can help some more,
if you post more details of your sound module, the track settings, etc...

Yeah... It all depends on your keyboards. Lots of keyboards have "Multi" setups... I think the Clavia transmits multi information on Channel 16, in the Virus it's a little different, etc.

It's just a matter of tweaking knobs for a couple weeks until you get the hang of it.

If you've got a midi controller keyboard in the MPC midi IN and a sound module in the MPC midi OUT... then flip through all 16 channels and see if any of them are transmitting sounds... You can see on the MPC if it is receiving midi information...
