MIDI SysEx - MPC1000

I just looked thru the MIDI Implementation Chart of my Korg ER-1 and found out that when an "INQUIRY MESSAGE REQUEST" is received, it transmits information identifying itself. The Chart specifically outlines the "Manufacturer ID", "Family ID", "Member ID" and "Major-" and "Minor Version" which are specific to the ER-1.

Here's my question:
Does anybody know what these values are for the MPC1000? If so, please let me know.

As far as I know the 1000/2500 have no sysex implementation.

Not true. In the user's guide, there are two midi implementation charts one for the sampler and one for the sequencer. The sequencer sends and receives sysex.

Only from the manuals and forums. I still haven't had chance to sit down
with my BCR2000 and the 4000 and program anything. But here's the info
for the 4000:

<Start of SysEx> <AKAI ID> <Z4/Z8 ID> <User-selectable Device ID> <User-Refs..> …
Where the values of the bytes are: <&F0> <&47> <&5F> <0..&7F> …
{<240> <71> <95> <0..127> …}

A complete message
The format of a complete control message is as follows:
<&F0> <&47> <&5F> <0..&7F> <…> <Section> <Item> <Data1> … <DataN> <checksum> <&F7>

So here's an example:

This message sets parameter 3 of fx1 to value +100:
240 71 95 0 38 80 0 0 2 0 100 0 0 0 247

Yes, if it's just the Sequencer chart that says it sends and recieves sysex. That just means that the Sequencer is able to record sysex and play it back. For examle. My MKS-50 uses Sysex. This would allow me to record a filter sweep from the PG-300 into the MPC 1000. And then have the MPC 1000 play that back to the MKS-50.

The MPC's Sysex would be in the sampler chart. If that says it send or recieves sysex then your in the ballgame...

If so, is this a limitation of a particular OS version?

The MPC 1000 does not generate or respond to Sysex. Its sequencer can indeed record and play back Sysex from external devices.

cool, thanks for the link. There is no direct way to control the mixer, but I reckon you could do it by using the NOTE ON command with Track Select and DATA WHEEL left o right.
