Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey everyone I need some help big time!!! I've asked guitar center this and they dont know either so hopefully all you MPC experts out there can help me... When I record a melody onto the MPC from my Motif es6, (lets say for example in sequence 1, track 1, MIDI:1a) and I'm using a synth sound, everything is perfect...now the problem is when i try to add my second track. When i change it to track 2 on the MPC and search my motif for a new sound to add, the melody from track 1 is changing as i scroll through sounds on the motif. This is definetly a problem and can someone please help me I've been stuck on this problem for too long...is this maybe a mixer problem? i have a Behringer mixer if this helps. Thanx

Does it change rhythm structure or general sound of a melody ?
If it's sound - looks like it involes multitimbral issue with your motif.

well from my experience from working with modules and such, you should be able to switch to another midi channel on the motif. you have to be able to switch from channel 1 to another channel so you can work with another patch from the motif. its going to keep changing the patch on channel 1 unless you switch to a new channel on the motif. this is done in different ways depending on the module or synth you're using.

I will try changing the channel on the motif (es 6) and I hope that this makes it so that the sound will stick and not change...Thanx

you might wanna change the setting on the MPC to MIDI 2A for track 2.
basically you need to change the MIDI setting from the souce for track 1. the best thing to do is create your own set of sounds that you wanna use for a particular beat.(i.e. go to the mixer screen and create the template).
this way 1A will be track 1 in the motif and 2A will be track 2, etc...

hope this helps.
