The Akai drive is the only stock drive that works. Some people managed to use one or two other models though by breaking off a pin on the connector or something.

There are 2 things I am having problems with. The 1st thing is, I am still having problem burning my beat to a CD (there is a CD drive already installed in my MPC 2500). You would think it is a piece of cake to do, but after 2 weeks I still cant burn a beat to a CD. So I decided to purchase a USB cable and hook up the MPC to my laptop, transfer the file from the MPC to the laptop. Now I am transfering the wave file (or beat) from my MPC to the laptop, but when I play the track is makes a lot of static noise and you cant even hear the beat. Do I need to purchase some type of music software for my laptop, so the beat will be able to play. Could anyone assist me with these 2 questions?

I think your second problem is the answer to your first. Probably something went wrong when your recorded/resampled your beat. That's why it won't burn to CD. Did you try it with different projects?

So you are saying my 2nd problem is the answer to my 1st problem. It sounds like I am missing a recording software (but what recording software). Am I supposed to download this recording software on my MPC 2500? I wouldnt think you would have to do that, especially if the CD drive is already preinstalled. I have saved my beats on a memory card, so I still have all my work. Also when I am making my actual beat, it records fine and it also plays back with no problem. But I am still having trouble burning it to an audio cd, and transerfing the beat to my laptop. Like I said in my previous message, I can transfer the file from my MPC 2500 to the laptop, but I cant get it to play. I am missing something simple here, my guess is some type of software, but what software? You also mentioned if I tried burning it with different projects, what other projects are there? I have tried burninig my beats from my MPC 2500, to the pre installed CD drive, with no success. I have tried purchasing a USB cable and hooking it up to my laptop. I have received minimal success with this b/c I can at least transfer my file (or beat) from the MPC 2500 to the laptop but I can not get it to play (its all static). I even have Windows XP on my laptop, so my computer program is not the problem. But I know I am getting closer. So what other project files are there?
You have to forgive me, I only have a couple weeks of experience with the MPC 2500.

I have tried at least 7 different projects (or beats). After my beat is completed, I save them first (I press the mode button and save). I save the project to my memory card with no problem. My next step is saving it to an Audio CD. So I press mode and save, so here is the tricky part (I hope u can follow me). When I press mode and save, it ask me what i want to save it to (Hard Disk, Internal memory, memory card). But it does not say Audio Cd. I have a blank CD in my CD drive, but it does not read it. Now if I load a CD, with vocals or music already recorded on it, and I press mode and load, it reads AUDIO CD. But when I want to save my beats and I press mode and save, it does not read AUDIO CD. What should I do?
Thanks.
Thanks.
