Just got my first MPC! (60II) any tips to getting started??

yeah, i messed with the contrast knob, it works, but my screen still aint lighting up, its like the screen on a calculator, i want it to glow like a xmas tree

sequential midi note number pad assignments in all of your PGMs from the beginning, it will make sense later on down the road...

Is that to set the pads, so that each one represents a key on a keyboard?

yep... the default is set up for GENERAL MIDI, which is pretty useless for the most part, unless you are loading up premade GM PGMs... what you need to do is set up the pads and numbers sequentially... if you do it from the beginning and get used to the PGMs always being setup like this, you wont have a big chore and relearning to do when you get to working with an external midi device... it doesnt really effect you much when you are just working with the mpc, but imo its better to learn it this way from the beginning than to have to relearn your midi number pad assignments again later when your trying to learn integrating anothre machine...

Just got my OS 3.10 upgrade and installed it.

wow, its like a totally different machine now. so much easier to work on. just gotta get a new backlight and its pretty much perfect.

i need the foil for my screen too. what's the foil part number/ how do i search for it on ebay?
