Akai MPC 2000XL Special Edition 1 Studio Version
Asking Price: US$1050
Condition: Excellent
Age: 1 year 6 months
Description:
"Far superior in sound & build to the MPC1000, proven to withstand the rigours of gigging & professional studio use."

People Have to realize when they buy technology that it loses value in most cases as soon as you walk out the door. Technology continues to either imrove or duplicate at a lower price. I feel this guys pain because he wants to as much of his investment back as he can so he try's to down play the MPC1000 which is cheaper and sounds as good and does almost as much as the MPC2000 (actually more with a PC). Ok, I'll stop blabbering.

the 1000 and 2000 can both use a PC to the same effect, adding a PC to the 1000 to compare it to a 2000 is bulls hit.

1050 Aint bad for a xl studio.

Whatever. You missed my point. I wasn't looking for an argument or trying to start a MPC1000 verse MPC2000 battle. There both great machines that do things different. I was mostly refering to the persons statement that the MPC2000's sound quality was better than the MPC1000 which is a stupid statement. Sorry to rile you up. I'll slap myself 30 times and go to bed early. Peace.

No beef G, just that you were comparing them as if the 1000 was the only one capable of using a computer, which is clearly not the case. I do not own a 2000, but I know mad cats that use theor computers to sample and edit add effects etc. then bump it to a 2000 through a zip disk or floppy. Given the problems people have reported on the 1000's USB connectivity and the solution of buying a usb card reader for their computers, it is roughly the same process and can't weigh in on either side. So the statement that the 1000 with a computer does more than the xl is a misleading statement, since a 2000 can use a computer just the same as the 1000 can. USB connectivity just turns you $900 sampler into a USB CF card reader in special modes and with varying amounts of success, hardly a leg up.

Now the 128Mb's of ram is a benefit of the 1000, and timestretch and zones are a benefit of the xl.

Sorry if I seemed riled up, I was rolling with wayne brady and he made me smoke dust.

Could the timestretch be an OS update on the 1000`?
