Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi. i just bought a 2gb SD card as i thought that the new OS 1.72 allowed up to 2gb cards without partitioning. When i format it in the mpc it says i have 1024mb. Why is this?

Thanks, Ben

I think the mpc can only recognize 1 gig. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

going right from memory here, i read something on the boards here that said you can only go up to 1gb on the SD cards but if you get a compact flash the 1gb threshold does not exist. furthermore, cf on an mpc seems to be a bit better and possibly faster read/write times but Im not sure about that bit.

CF'S WORK BEST FOR MCD ON THE 2000XL I GOT THE 2 GIG PNY TECH AND THE TWO GIG DANE ELEC NO FORMAT NO PROB FULL GIGS ON OTH AND STILL GOT ROOOOOOM TO PLAY AND GO'ES BACK AND FORTH FROM PC TO MPC WITH NO PROB ITS DEPENDS ON THE CARD YOU USE .

i just popped in a Lexmar 64mb CF card that i ganked from my roommates digital camera. dropped some samples on it on the pc, took it to the mpc and put it in and it showed up without any problems at all. i agree with those that have said CF is the way to go.

yea but im sure i read somewhere that you can now use up to 2gb cards with the new OS on MPC 2000xl. I dont think it matters what type of flash card it is????

Thanks. . . .

yup CF is the way to go. I never have any problems with it. My friend had an SD he didn't need, we tried to format it and the MP wasn't even tryin to read it
