why do i see more people having macbook pro's instead of a regular mac?

ive just got regular macbook laptop, not pro. works for me.
i read once on a forum that apple isnt considering the regular macbook as an actual music/film production platform and as such they dont encourage the use of logic and FCP as much as they would encourage it on a mbp. however, i doubt they'd say no to your money if you were to buy logic for a regular macbook.

mac book pro has a better graphics card, oh and its made out of metal!

IMHO I don't think getting a mac is worth the money anymore. They utilize the same architecture now as any Windows based PC.
Now, I know what you're going to say, you need Mac OSX, well thats fine and dandy. BUT in the next few months theres going to be a new OSX build that supports installation on any x86 machine.
What this means is that for the price of a Mac you will probably be able to set yourself up with a hefty PC, load it with Mac OSX, have a dual boot to Windows AND be able to probably get yourself a decent set of external inputs on the side.
Now, I know what you're going to say, you need Mac OSX, well thats fine and dandy. BUT in the next few months theres going to be a new OSX build that supports installation on any x86 machine.

It's all over the press releases, the code already works with x86 machines, it's just they have been waiting on Leopard to implement a first party installer. Delays stemmed from trying to the the iShyt out on time.

I got a macbook only cuz it was $100 brand new. Im in love with Macs now...im thinkin about gettin one of those new imacs though...

i read about the x86 mac osx too. its legit.
but, i recently shopped for laptops and was surpised to find that the 13" macbook with a 2ghz cpu and 1gb of ram was in many cases a lower price than a laptop of the same spec by other big names like toshiba, HP and dell.
so, suit your self. its your gear. price isnt that much diffrent these days from what ive seen.
