Why the random note numbers?

Here's a question from a newbie. Forgive me if this a topic that's been addressed before; I couldn't find anything on it.

Can someone explain to me the pattern behind how the note numbers are assigned to the pads in a drum program? I can't help but feel that it would make more sense if they went in chromatic order, especially when trying to edit a program in ak.sys. I found a Global Pad setting on the pad assign button that allows you to set them in chromatic order, but it doesn't seem to stick; when I go back to look at a program I've been working on, they're back in that seemingly random order. What am I missing?

Could this possibly have something to do with the scale setting on the Misc. page in the program settings? If not, what the christ does that thing do?

Midi standard for drums

I`m not an expert but Each drum program can be set standard for GM (General Midi for channel 10 on most synthesizers or drum modules) or unquie for each internal program by the user as his or her preference. If you want to play pitched instruments like bass, piano, and etc. The keygroup program and Chromatic order would be advantageous. Never really messed with General Midi drums before because I play real ones and those are a bit better. However, the programming one can do with the 4K is giving me a run for my money!
