Anyone use an scsi hard drive?

Its starting to look better and better as I browse ebay looking around, to have an 8 gig harddrive hooked up store samples and beats would be kinda dope. Anyone use one?

yes, I do;
I have an external HP harddrive with 8 GB.
much faster than zip discs; never had problems with it.
but since mine is at least 10 years old, I backup everything on zips....just in case....

Thanks I just need a place to store massive amounts of drum sounds cause I keep running out of place on the 512 cf cards.

get yourself a couple of those cf cards. two or three of them go bad, you'll lose a couple beats. The hard drive goes bad, your whole shit is gone...that's how i look at it. Plus if you wanna use hard drive as an alternate back-up, cop a Multi-card Reader (they go for cheap, $15 maybe) and just save sounds, data from your CF cards onto your computer's hard drive.

If you decide to pick one up on ebay, you can go up to 9.1GB and then partition it anyway you like.

A 9.1GB scsi hard drive will work fine with an MPC2000 or an MPC2000XL.

Very important note: External SCSI Hard Drives will not work with Studio Plus and MCD models. There is some uknown conflict between the hard drive and these models.

damn, I got the mcd model... It wont work for that joint?? What If I drop down to a lower os?

Iomega zips do my trick. I can store and load at a faster rate.

Yes, as I mentioned before, the MCD will have issues with the hard drive.

I do not believe any different os will matter. But if you happen to get your hands on a hard drive and use a different os . . . and it happens to work . . . please let us all know. I had no luck.

You will be better off with either a 100mb or a 250mb scsi zip drive.

just letting you know that most people go for Compact Flash Readers cause they're known to be more stable than zip disks, and some say they're faster. if you see one compatible with your mpc, it could be a good investment.

I use 2GB jaz disks
