Having problems with the tempo

I'm having a problem with the tempo, when I go to recored a beat it says (EXT) where the tempo is and the tempo is pretty fast. I can;t make it go any slower. what should i do?

your MPC is synced as Slave to another clock, turn off clock sync.

You must you using a DAW or something... Whatever it is you have your MPC MIDI'd to, it's running off that clock - instead of turning off clock sync, just change the tempo of the external clock
