I Need Help. I want to use my MPC2500 as a Sound Module.

I looked all up and down this forum with the search function and I read the manual. No luck. I'm looking to use the MPC2500 as a sound module. I want my software sequencer to trigger the sounds on my MPC2500. Tried everything. What am I missing? Thanks.

Thats a very expensive sound module you got there.

I'm assuming you have a working midi interface connected to your computer. If not, get one. Attach a midi cable from the midi out of the interface to the MPC's midi in. Hit mode and Pad 9 to go to the Midi/Sync screen. Set the active receive channel to the midi channel that you wanna transmit and sequence through (you might want to set this to all if you plan on sequencing more than one track).

Set-up your software sequencer to transmit midi singals on a midi track. Make sure it is transmitting the midi signal to the right midi port (the port on the interface that is connected to the MPC). Make sure the channel you are sending midi signals to corresponds to the receive channel on the MPC.

Its really rather simple or at least it should be. You said you tried everything but what exactly have you tried? How did you set everything up? If you did everything right there might be some issues with your midi interface, your MPC, your software, or your computer.

So how about triggering multiple drumkits thru midi? Am I missing something or is this feature from the MPC2000XL not available (drum1 - drum4)?
Seems like the MPC2500 and MPC1000 can only play one program thru midi at the time...

I haven't found anything in the manual suggesting it would be possible, unlike on the MPC2000XL I had before...

I've reached the same problem but from a different direction.

I want to record 16 tracks of MIDI in to the MPC at the same time.

In your situation can you;
Setup Track1 with Program1 on MIDI CH1
Setup Track2 with Program2 on MIDI CH2

Then from the Sequencer setup Track 1 on MIDI CH1 and Track 2 On MIDI Ch2. Will this work? I havent tried it myself.

the mpc can import 16-bit 44.1kHz wav files, but it can't import midi files? that makes no sense to me. what I would do (assumin u can import midi) is simply export my 16 midi tracks from whatever sequencer i'm using to create the midi files in the first place, save the files on to some sort of media (cd-r, external hard drive, zip, etc), and import them from the mpc.

remember people...midi = series of on/off signals...midi files are often smaller than word documents. hope this helps

Is the 2500 "multi-timbral" like the 4k?

I am facing this very same issue. I am have my mpc set up with Logic pro..midi in/out, environment etc.

Track 1 ...Drum program...midi 1a
Track 2 ...Drum program...midi 2a

When I activate my tracks in Logic I keep triggering just one channel.


Did anyone figure out this problem. Is this a mpc2500 limitation?
