Curious about note numbers.

Yo, I'm usin the MPC2000 and I'm curious why the pads can only transmit note numbers 35 or so and up? I'm wondering cause I'm trying to trigger my Novation Drumstation via MIDI but I can't play certain sounds from it because their note numbers start at 24. Anything between 24 and 35, I can't seem to play from the pads. Is a keyboard controller the only way? Those pads are so much better for drums, ya know? Help me out yall.

you can assign the mpc to play any note number on any pad what i did was just setup a seperate mpc boot disk with your custom assignments stored in a seq song file on the same disk. everytime you boot from that disk it will use those settings.

by the way if you didnt know its in the program section you just hit the pad and change the note number it sends.

On page 47 of my Drumstation manual, it shows the MIDI percussion map (the sounds with their MIDI note numbers).

mnn 36 (C1) is where the Bass Drum starts, in Both the 808 and 909 banks.

The mnn 24-34 are not really useful, because all you'd have to do is just switch from 808 to 909 and you can get those sounds.

I usually just resample different tweeked drums, and make tons of kits out of em.

That way I can mix the 808 and 909 sounds together, to get what I'm looking for.

Scarecrow- When I scroll down the note numbers in the program section, it blanks at 34. I don't understand how a custom boot disk will make those lower numbers accesible?

Enotide- Switching the General Drum Map thingy gives me either kit but via MIDI, all the Dstations sounds should be accessible at once, no? I see what you're saying about resampling... But I got the cool toy now, why not trigger it live? If I can that is...
