Hi everybody,

I finally connected my MPC 2500 with the Planet Phatt.
So far so good..

The Planet Phatt responds, i can save and load and evertything`s fine so far.
BUT..I can`t access all Sounds of the Phatt and when i do the following:

-Track set to "Midi"
-Program to "OFF"
-Midi Chanel chosen, let`s say "1A"
-open with Window where it says "PC"

..then i can only choose between 128 Sounds plus but the Names listed are not the ones I´m playing.

For instance it shows "Grand Piano", while the
MPC plays back a Sub Bass..

So it`s all mixed up, how can i get this sorted ?

Already tried to mess with the settings of the pp, but couldt find
the problem.

Also in JJ`s Manual and the Original Manual, i didt find anything helpful..

Does this have to do with the MPC settings, or do i have to keep looking in the pp ?

Maybe someone could at least point me in the right direction..
Thanks in Advance !

Your MPC is not gonna display what you are using in the PP.

example:

set your mpc to track 1
Type: Midi
Pgm: Off
Midi: 1A

Now go to the PP...
Find your sound
then use the arrow key to go to where it says C01 next to the v127

C01 is your midi channel.

Change it to C02 and change the sound for that and you will be changing the sound for Midi channel 2(2A on the MPC) and so on..

set track type to midi.
set PGM to No1
windows No1 / bank select yes / MSB /lsb turn incrementally

PP - factory reset

Yes, i know..

Thanks for your Answers, but this wont solve the problem.
I can already change Banks and access the sounds of each of them..

I want the MPC to show "dirtymofobass", when i choose "dirtymofobass" in the PP.

Now, that i dug a littler deeper into the whole program change thing,
i realized, that i would need a pgm-file for the MPC2500, where all preset`s of the planet phatt are listed with Sound & Bank Numbers as in the Planet Phatt..
But i didnt find anything on the Net.

Basically it`s better steering the Planet Phatt (probably better with any synth..)through the Program Change in Cubase, since you can look by genre.
for example "sbs" and you got all sub basses, "drm" all drum sets appear and so on..or just scroll thru the downfall menue on the track and go from there.

Maybe i switch back to using Cubase for the Phatt and have the MPC running in Slave mode to it, or maybe i could do it like this:

MPC out > PC in (Cubase with Program Change Planet Phatt)
PC out > Planet Phatt in
Planet Phatt out > MPC in

What you think ?

yeah the MPC doesnt support the key/drum maps like cubase.

i have similar setup and i simply scroll through the patch numbers one by one until i find a patch that fits.

most hardware synths, group the basses and keys etc together, so that 1- 50 are basses and then 50-100 are keys etc.

so once you know your synth hardware its not blindly scrolling though numbers as you may think. you actually tend to rely on your ears more rather than looking for a patch that "looks" like it will fit.

if your synth is patch 1 - keys, 2 = bass, 3= vox etc then you could use a tool like Sound diver rearrange the patches in to some kind of logical order. well logical to you.

wondering if you called emu, folks there are generally very helpful, even with legacy units. Hit em up.
