MPC 1000 Midi Help!!

ive had my mpc for about a month or so and im pretty much understand the basics and ive really only been using it to make sample based tracks but today i decided i wud hook up my juno g to it and try to make some composed beats.. i looked in the manual and it said you needed to have a midi cable goin out of the mpc's OUT to the in on the keyboard and a midi cable going from the MPC's IN to the keyboards out.. so i have this set up and i have the "Type" on the mpc set to Midi and i have the program set to Off like the manual said and i also tried No.1 and i have the Midi set to 1A... now i figured it shud work..it doesnt.. for some reason wen i hit record on the mpc and hten play the keys it doesnt record the midi data but if i press the pads on the mpc it plays the sounds from the keyboard and if i hit record n press the pads it records those notes.. so im confused... what am i doing wrong? plz help

This is because you are trying to record a MIDI input which is not a sound at all, it is a signal. In order to record notes played directly off the Juno, you need to route the Sound output, which you would normaly plug into an amp or speakers, directly to the Record In on the MPC. So now all you have to is drop a nice pattern down, loop it, press Record, and play that Juno till it breaks.

thats not what im trying to do.. i want to be able to sequence my juno within the mpc... i want to be able to play the keys on the juno and have mpc record the midi data of the notes so that i can edit them and then wen i hit play it will trigger them back... the same way u wud do if u were to b using FL or Cubase
